HardKnock World – 0

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Thought Train:

I am a Nigerian, living in Nigeria.  I could start and end this entire article with that single sentence. It’s more than enough, but for the sake of explanation, context and maybe entertainment also, I will write a bit more.

I am a young, unconnected Nigerian youth with a B.Sc in computing and a salary that is afraid to ask what a bag of rice costs. That is the backdrop against which this series is set. I recently told a colleague that I am ¼ Muslim, ½ Christian and ¼ agnostic. The latter part is probably what allows my mind to have these thoughts.

These thoughts, which are more like essays in my mind, are what I’m putting together in this series. The series is meant to be a book, but I’ve started 6 books in the past two years and never finished a single one. It is what it is.

As to what gives me the license to say the things I’m about to say and think people might want to read it, well, I say some of these things to the people around me, and people not so close. They tend to listen without being forced, and some of them manage not to call me crazy. So, this is probably nothing more than an experiment to see if I’m actually alone in my own “craziness” or there are more of us out there.

As to the writing, please don’t get your hopes up. It’s nothing more than should be expected from a practising computer scientist, with previous flirtations with the arts, and the delusion that he could probably make it as a creative artiste.

Introduction is done, the next part will be titled “Education is not the Key”. Enjoy.
